Spring has sprung...

When new things come in the store, you can almost always expect to see it pop up on our social media feeds. Instagram has rapidly become our primary mechanism for letting you know what’s the what with new products in the store…but it also means that you might not always get the update, especially if the product sells out before we get it up on the website, so this month on the blog, we are letting you know what’s new in the store, what we’re excited about, and what’s on its way – a spring preview, if you will.

First up: fashion! We carry a curated selection of high-end basics in the shop, and we’ve received a couple of the shipments already, with a few more still to come. Fashion seasons don't usually line up with the weather right away, but we've had a crazy warm February, so we've had the opportunity to not only be excited about, but actually wear clothes as they arrive. Up first is Modaspia, a small label out of the mountains of California. They use primarily dead stock fabrics from France, as well as linens, to create simple silhouettes that you'll want to live in. Another "slow fashion" label with ethically employed people all along the supply chain, these are pieces you can feel good about and look good wearing (we've written about slow fashion before here, referencing a different label, Richmond based Otelia).

One item we are particularly excited about is that striped tunic – this thing is incredible in its simplicity. I can’t wait to wear it over jeans this spring, and later as a dress when the humidity hits. The gingham top shown above is also a winner. Gingham is big this spring, and we think this top is the on-trend item you need. It has the sweetest buttons down the back, keeping things interesting, and the darting throughout makes the fit beautiful.

Another already-in-stock selection is our first spring shipment of NICO – our favorite Japanese label. These pieces err on the oversized, with simple, contemporary shapes. The fabrics are super luxe, focusing on patterns and textures that look as good as they feel. The fig sweater (above) is already flying out of the store -- it really is the perfect cotton sweater.  I can't wait to style it with distressed boyfriend jeans and heels! We also have a NICO best-seller, the Skoll top, which we had this past fall/winter in a charcoal flannel, but now in an airy, textured white. We expect to get more from NICO later this month, as well as a few other shipments from labels you’ve come to love, like Nuthatch (now called Studio 412) and Otelia.

We also have a huge shipment of the best scarves from the Scarf Shop coming – but until we get them in, we will give you only this teaser trailer:

eeeeeee -- get excited!!

Outside of clothing, we have big news in Jewelry this season. Ever-popular Erin McDermott Jewelry is being significantly expanded in the shop! We've always carried her earrings, but Erin's jewelry business is booming, plus she has a growing family, so she won’t be able to attend as many farmer’s markets as she has in the past.  We're sad we wont see her as often, but we're stoked to announce that we'll carry her full line here in the shop.

Additionally, We have several new pieces of S. Carter in the store. These pieces are heavy on style and that typical S. Carter mysticism. We are always drooling over these pieces (especially that geometric cuff).

Outside of fashion, we have tons of new antiques in the shop! There's a large-format 19th-century mirror that we can't photograph (without doing a silly mirror selfie) -- but its huge, and it features plaster detailing and original gilding. This baby is a beauty and we encourage you to stop by to see it for yourself. We also got a repurposed, industrial table that we think would make an awesome bar, as well as a column capital that would make a killer centerpiece for a formal dining table.

We've also received several new home decor items recently.  We've sampled them for you below, and encourage you to imagine them in your space--there's nothing like a new item to spur your spring cleaning and get you excited to lighten and brighten your home!

If you want details, pricing, or have any questions about anything you see -- just give us a call or stop by the shop! We're getting new things constantly, but they don't always make it to the website quickly, if at all.  (Pro tip: if there's a brand you love, let us know and we can put you on a call list so that you're the first to know when we get new shipments from them 😉)
